Roughly a year after joining the New Balance team, Aminé now has a sneaker collaboration on the way with the Boston-based footwear mainstay.
After several teases, Aminé provided the best looks yet at his forthcoming New Balance 610 realized in shades of brown and banana yellow (after his Club Banana label).
Detailed looks reveal some pretty impressive, well, details, from the combo of reflective, mesh, and patent paneling to a snow globe-like detail with a floating banana inside. And of course, co-branding hits on the tongue to top it all off.
Aminé announced the news of the collaboration on May 30 by way of a brief visual teaser. In the video, Aminé and two friends stare at and question the subtleness of a billboard, which reads "A Kid from Portland Has His Own Sneaker" in New Balance's signature typeface in yellow.
Aminé's personal and Club Banana logos, plus New Balance branding, were also on the billboard, as well as, uh, a case of bananas. Well, it's safe to guess who's muse behind the shoe.
Aminé joins other New Balance collaborators like Joe Freshgoods and Bodega, who also took on the burgeoning 610 sneaker recently. It appears New Balance is planning to make 2023 a big year for the shoe pacing to be the next 990.
Up until recently, Aminé and New Balance have been pretty good with keeping the shoe a surprise. But now that we know what we're working with, folks are ready for the release.
According to Aminé, his New Balance 610 "Mooz" is expected during Summer 2023. With the season steadily creeping up, we could see the musician's inaugural shoe very soon. So, is it too early to ask if we're about to see the shoe of the summer?
Aminé became a New Balance ambassador last year, joining a star-studded roster including Jack Harlow, Kawhi Leonard, Storm Reid, and Zach Lavine. Since then, he's appeared in NB campaigns for sneakers like the 9060 and Fresh Foam X More Trail V3.
Aminé quickly rose to fame in 2016 — everyone's favorite unproblematic year — with his viral "Caroline" track. A year later, he presented fans with his sizzling debut album Good for You, which included the 2016 hit as well as tracks with Ty Dolla $ign, Kehlani, and Offset. Three projects later, our FRONTPAGE cover star is fresh off a collaborative album with Kaytranada, naturally dubbed KATRYAMINÉ.
With new music and a forthcoming New Balance sneaker, Summer 2023 has Aminé written all over it. Literally, in the case of his NB billboard.
